Questions

The things people actually ask

If yours isn’t here, phone and ask. 819 801-0835.

Do I need to be fit already?
No. Most people who call us haven’t exercised in years, and a good number have had a fall or a scare. The assessment tells us exactly where you are, and we start from there. There is no minimum fitness level.
I’m 78. Am I too old for this?
No. Strength and balance respond to training at every age — the research on this is unambiguous, and the gains in the eighties and nineties are proportionally larger, not smaller.
What if I have arthritis, a replaced knee, or osteoporosis?
That’s common here, and it changes how we train you, not whether we train you. Every client completes a PAR-Q medical screening first, and if you have a condition needing clearance we’ll ask your doctor before we start.
Is online really effective for balance training?
Yes, with two conditions: the instructor must be able to see you, and you must have something sturdy to hold. Our classes are small enough that we watch every person, and we set your space up safely first.
Do you work with my physiotherapist?
Yes, gladly. Physio gets you out of trouble; we keep you out of it. With your permission we’ll send your assessment report to your physiotherapist, chiropractor or family doctor, and work to whatever restrictions they set.
What does it cost?
Every price is published. In-home training is $40 for a thirty-minute session or $65 for an hour, and a twelve-week term of live online group classes is $240 — under $10 a class. You never have to call to find out.
What areas do you serve?
In-home and in-studio: Ottawa, Nepean, Kanata, Orléans, Barrhaven, Stittsville, Gatineau and Aylmer. Live online classes: anywhere in Canada.
Am I safe having someone come to my house?
We think that’s a fair question to ask, so we answer it before you have to: certified, fully insured, current CPR/AED and Standard First Aid, and a police record check including vulnerable sector screening. We’ll show you all of it at the first visit.
My mother needs this but won’t admit it. What do I do?
You’re not the first person to ask. Book the free assessment as a no-obligation second opinion rather than as training — most people are far more willing to have something measured than to be signed up for something. She keeps the report either way.
What if I don’t like it?
There are no contracts. Monthly packages cancel with [N] days’ notice, and we’ll tell you honestly at the assessment if we don’t think we’re the right fit for you.
Do I need any equipment?
For the first four weeks, a sturdy chair and a clear bit of floor. That’s it. If we add anything later we’ll tell you exactly what and why, and none of it is expensive.
